UCLA at Oregon, canceled

Oregon’s Senior Day and regular-season finale against No. 1 UCLA was called off due to rain.

The Bruins had won the previous two games 4-2 and 6-5.

Oregon finished its season 27-29 overall and 10-19 in the 11-team Pac-12, placing ninth in the Pac-12. UCLA clinched the conference title during the series and is 47-8, 24-5.

USC 5, OREGON STATE 0

Oregon State ended its regular season on a sour note.

The Beavers (36-18-1, 21-8) finished third in the Pac-12 while USC (25-29-1, 13-15-1) took seventh.

USC Kyle Hurt (3-7) gave up no runs with nine strikeouts in seven innings. Junior Chris Clarke had the save.

Oregon State junior Grant Gambrell (5-2) gave up only two earned runs with five strikeouts.

The Trojans scored in the second inning off a sacrifice fly from sophomore shortstop Ben Ramirez. An RBI single from junior center fielder Matt Acosta gave the Trojans a 2-0 lead in the sixth.

Oregon State, which had five hits, left nine runners on base.

USC piled it on in the ninth, netting three unearned runs.

Oregon State will learn its postseason matchup on Monday.

COLLEGE TRACK AND FIELD

Portland senior Taryn Rawlings (4 minutes, 10.25 seconds) broke her all-time record in the 1,500 meters, and Oregon added 12 more qualifiers to nationals on the final day of the NCAA west prelims in Sacramento, California.

Rawlings next will run in the semifinals at the NCAA outdoor championships in Austin, Texas.

Also for the Pilots, senior Lauren LaRocco also ran her final race, finishing 40th in the 5,000 in 16:47.9.

In the men’s 5,000, the UP trio of Caleb Webb (14:19.03), Evert Silva (14:24.97) and Michael Teran-Solano (14:26.09) finished 31st, 36th and 38the, respectively.

Oregon has 30 national qualifiers — 15 men and 15 women.

• Senior Easton Christensen became Concordia’s first men’s track and field All-American at the NCAA Division II championships in Kingsville, Texas.

Christensen threw the javelin 214-5 and placed sixth.

Freshman teammate Dalton Rasmussen (198-11) was 10th.

PGA TOUR

Former University of Oregon golfer Ben Crane from Beaverton was tied for 53rd with one round to go in the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas.

Crane turned in a 1-over-par 71 in the third round for a 3-over 213 total.

Kevin Na (201) was in the lead over five golfers: Mackenzie Hughes, C.T. Pan, Jordan Spieth, Jim Furyk and Tony Finau.

Former Jesuit High golfer Scott Harrington moved up 26 spots into a tie for 15th in the Evans Scholars Invitational at Glenview, Illinois.

Harrington shot a 4-under 68 for a 14-under 202 total.

Marcelo Rozo (202) led Vince Covello by one stroke through 54 holes.
