PORTLAND, Ore. – Officers responded to reports of gunfire in Northeast Portland early Monday morning to find an abandoned vehicle that someone had crashed into a TriMet bus shelter.

The incident started at about 2 a.m. when Portland Police received a “shots fired” call from the neighborhood near Northeast 15th Avenue and Prescott Street.

Officers arrived on-scene to find that a midsized SUV had been crashed into a bus stop, but the driver and anyone else who may have been in that car had already fled.

They also found a line of shell casings along Northeast Prescott leading to the intersection. It appears that the driver was trying to take the corner.

Investigators are trying to piece together several things – like who fired those shots, where they came from, and who was involved in the subsequent crash.

there’s still a mess left behind.

Police had the SUV towed from the scene, however, there’s still a lot of glass in the road.

KATU News has a call in with Portland Police; this story will be updated as information comes in.
