A pall of gray has fallen over Portland for Memorial Day, as rain replaces sunny skies that greeted Oregon over Memorial Day weekend.

Light rain is expected to fall across the Portland metro area Monday, with a high temperature of 69 degrees, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

Rain is most likely after noon, forecasters said, with a 60% chance of precipitation through much of the day. Clouds are expected to begin thinning out later, with a slight chance of showers overnight before sun and warm temperatures return Tuesday.

The north Oregon coast has an 80% chance of rain Monday, with a high of 60 degrees. Rain is also expected after 11 a.m. at Government Camp on Mount Hood, which will see a high of 57 degrees for Memorial Day.

Temperatures are expected to reach the 80s later this week, with a high of 86 degrees predicted for Thursday in Portland under mostly sunny skies.
