Temperatures are expected to push into the upper 80s Thursday in Portland, forecasters say.

The National Weather Service predicts Portland will see temperatures topping out near 88 degrees. If the forecast holds, Thursday will be the hottest day of the year so far in Portland.

The city has hit 87 degrees twice so far this year, on May 9 and 10. Wednesday’s temperatures reached 84 degrees.

The weather service predicts Portland will see sunny skies Thursday. Friday will bring more of the same, with temperatures that are expected to crest near 84 degrees.

Showers are likely Saturday, and a thunderstorm is possible. Sunday will bring a 30% chance of showers, mainly before 11 a.m., according to the weather service.
