Police are searching for a man suspected of shooting and killing an 18-year-old woman in Southeast Portland earlier this month.

Kceon Colbert, 18, is wanted in the fatal shooting of Shai’India Harris, Portland police said Friday. Police described Colbert as 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds.

Harris had recently graduated from Parkrose High School, according to the nonprofit Don’t Shoot Portland.

A week after her death, hundreds gathered downtown to demand justice for her and celebrate her life. Harris’ family and friends spoke at the vigil, which took place at Salmon Street Springs overlooking the Willamette River.

Another vigil for Harris was initially planned for Friday evening, but was canceled, with organizers citing the concerns of safety amid recent spikes in community violence. Organizers said they would soon announce details about a virtual event to honor Harris.

Harris’ death is one of 15 homicides reported in Portland in July — the highest rate of homicides the city has seen in more than three decades.
