A pattern of foggy mornings and mostly sunny afternoons begins Wednesday and may continue through the end of the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Fog had formed mostly on the east and northeast sides of Portland as of 5 a.m. Its likely foggy conditions will hang around until late in the morning before the sun breaks through for a mostly clear sky during the afternoon. The high is expected to reach about 62 degrees.

More widespread fog is expected Thursday with locations on the west side of the city likely to have foggy conditions. Gradual clearing will lead to partly sunny skies by the afternoon. The high will be about 62.

A weak cold front will bring a chance for rain along the far northwestern parts of Oregon including the north coast and Coast Range. Portland has a 20% chance for rain before noon. Rainfall totals will be minor with about 0.2 inches along the northern Coast Range and as little as a trace to 0.05 likely for the metro area. Locations south of about Salem are unlikely to see any rain. Skies will be mostly cloudy throughout the day and the high will drop to about 58 degrees.

Chances for rain quickly move out by Friday afternoon. Currently the weekend is looking foggy for the early hours, followed by partly sunny skies in the afternoons. Highs will be in the upper 50s to low 60s.
